LAI President's Medal 2026 - Members' Event
The Library Association of Ireland is pleased to invite members to a special event to mark the awarding of the 2026 LAI President’s Medal to Paschal Donohoe.
The LAI President’s Medal recognises and celebrates an individual outside of libraries who has an exceptional track record of promoting libraries and issues of interest or concern to libraries. The 2026 award recognises sustained support for reading, libraries, and access to books, as well as advocacy for intellectual freedom and the role libraries play in a healthy democracy.
Join us at Pearse Street Library for a focused and engaging morning event. The programme will include the formal presentation of the Medal, followed by an acceptance speech. The event will then move into a fireside-style conversation between Paschal Donohoe and Rick O'Shea, 2025 LAI President’s Medal recipient. There will be an opportunity for audience Q&A.
Tea and coffee will be available from 11:00, with formal proceedings beginning at 11:30.
Attendance is limited. Advance booking is required via Eventbrite, and places will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. A waitlist will operate once capacity is reached.
