This one-day workshop provides an introduction to the ladybirds of the UK, with an emphasis on Hampshire species and their identification. There are 47 species of ladybird in the UK, although we will be focussing on the 25 readily recognisable species. The day is suitable for anyone aged 18 and over and will include various talks and demonstrations by the leader, entomologist Bryan Pinchen. However, the emphasis for the day is very much on participants having a go themselves at identifying actual specimens using the identification keys provided.
During the afternoon session (weather permitting), we will explore the garden of the museum to demonstrate the fieldwork techniques used to find and record species in their natural habitat.
Cost: £15
Booking advised – limited places available (book by ringing the museum on 023 9281 5276 or at the museum front desk)
