Lady Bushra brings her new live show Professional Victim to Mic Drop Comedy San Diego for one day only! A sharp, fast-moving hour of stand-up from one of the UK’s most distinctive emerging comedy voices.
Originally from Bradford, England and now based in the U.S., Lady Bushra is the drag persona of comedian Amir Dean, blending British observational comedy with political satire, immigrant storytelling and brutally honest cultural commentary. As seen on BBC, Channel 4, Revry TV and shortlisted for the BBC New Comedy Award, Bushra has quickly built an international audience online and on stage through a style that feels closer to modern stand-up than traditional drag performance.
The material being developed in this performance forms part of Bushra’s upcoming comedy special; a theatrical stand-up project exploring identity, migration, religion, family and modern culture through the perspective of a British South Asian comic trying to make sense of America.
Expect a tightly written hour covering everything from growing up in a conservative Muslim household in Northern England to navigating queer life in New York and Los Angeles, all delivered with dry British timing, audience interaction and an instinct for finding the absurd in both progressive and conservative culture alike.
