She was a wealthy, attractive young widow who could take her pick from Virginia aristocracy. After marrying George, she was his steadfast partner who supported him in his duties and managed the household mansion of Mt. Vernon when he was away. She was a businesswoman, a patriot, and a president’s lifelong partner.
