About this Event
Welcome to the Lack of Words Writing Club ! Join us at Cafe De Pels for a fun and creative writing experience. Whether you're new to writing or just looking to meet fellow writers, this event is perfect for you. Each month, participants submit a short piece of writing in response to a shared prompt (sent the first Tuesday of the month). Submitted pieces are emailed to all attendees the Friday before the meeting - reading them in advance is required for a meaningful group discussion.
To Participate:
Submit your piece (max 1,000 words) by Friday, Oct. 17 to [email protected]
You’ll receive the group’s submissions on Saturday, Oct. 18. Come ready to discuss them!
Prompt: A Bouquet of Butterflies
Write a poem, letter, story, essay, script, anything that shows something so absurd that it could never exist in real life (or can it?).
It could be something beautiful, like picking butterflies and collecting them in a bouquet. Make the reader forget, for a moment, that in reality butterflies would just flutter away if you tried to take them home. Create yourself a world, and have fun while doing it.
Event Schedule
19:00 – Arrival. Snacks and drinks provided.
19:10 – We gather at the table. Printed copies of the texts are handed out (no laptops).
19:15 – Quick introduction.
19:25 – Reading begins.
19:30 – Each participant reads a part or the entirety of their piece.
After each reading, we dive into a guided group discussion:
- What does the piece mean to you?
- Where are the strongest parts?
- Where could it improve?
The writer then shares their process and intentions behind the piece.
