In partnership with Dunedin’s Wildlife Hospital, Tūhura Otago Museum is hosting a family fun day dedicated to the lovable kākāpō.Conservation experts will talk about the remarkable story of this endangered parrot and the ongoing efforts to protect it. The Museum’s Natural Science team will lead interactive experiences that bring the wonders of New Zealand’s wildlife to life. And Suzy Cato and the Dunedin Wildlife Hospital will invite children to learn about animal care by bandaging soft toy patients in our annual Wildlife ER.
The celebration continues with storytelling sessions that capture the magic of kākāpō, craft activities where families can create kākāpō-themed treasures to take home, and a special film screening that offers audiences the chance to see the kākāpō's journey on the big screen and appreciate the dedication behind its conservation.
