Négy éven át kísérte kamerával Kurtág György mindennapjait az Ezüst Medve-díjas filmrendező, Nagy Dénes. A 2021 és 2025 között született dokumentumfilm messze túllép a műfaj konvencionális keretein. A költői képsorokon megelevenednek az 1930-as évekbeli gyerekkor emlékei, az időskori magány dilemmái, alkotás és tanítás alapvető kérdései és egy páratlan zeneszerzői életmű emberi és gondolati hátterének alapelemei. A film, amelyben a klasszikus zenei élet olyan világsztárjai is megjelennek, mint Víkingur Ólafsson, Pierre-Laurent Aimard, Benjamin Appl vagy Steven Isserlis, Kurtág műveihez hasonlóan apró töredékekből épít nagy egészet. „A tanításban az történik, hogy azt nyomozzuk, mi a valóság.” – mondja Kurtág a film egy pontján. Nagy Dénes filmje pontosan ugyanerre kíváncsi.A film a Nemzeti Filmintézet támogatásával készült, forgalmazója a Mozinet.
A filmbemutatót követően, 2026. február 18-án, 21.15-től Víkingur Ólafsson és Pierre-Laurent Aimard zongoraművészek, Benjamin Appl bariton és Nagy Dénes rendező részvételével pódiumbeszélgetésre kerül sor, angol nyelven, amelynek moderátora Fazekas Gergely zenetörténész.

Silver Bear-winning filmmaker Dénes Nagy spent four years following György Kurtág’s everyday life with his camera. The resulting documentary, produced between 2021 and 2025, far exceeds the conventional boundaries of the genre. The poetic imagery brings to life memories of childhood in the 1930s, the dilemmas of loneliness in old age, fundamental questions of creativity and teaching, as well as the core elements of the human and intellectual background behind the output of a highly unique composer. The film, which also features international stars from the classical music world, such as Víkingur Ólafsson, Pierre-Laurent Aimard, Benjamin Appl and Steven Isserlis, constructs a greater whole from small fragments, much like Kurtág’s works do. “What happens in teaching is that we investigate what reality is,” Kurtág says at one point in the film. It is precisely this question that engages Nagy's film too.
The film was produced with the support of the National Film Institute and is being distributed by Mozinet.
Following this screening, an English-language panel discussion will take place starting at 9.15 pm with the participation of pianists Víkingur Ólafsson and Pierre-Laurent Aimard, baritone Benjamin Appl and director Dénes Nagy, with musicologist Gergely Fazekas serving as moderator.
