KiwisInSTEM - Meetup: Photonic technologies, is New Zealand missing out?

Join us for a night of fun and networking with fellow Kiwis interested in STEM fields! Whether you're a student, professional, or just curious about science and technology with a New Zealand lens, this event is for you.

Our speaker will introduce the technology field of photonics; the study of the transmission and control of light. Photonics is a widely used enabling technology, and is critical for the transmission of data around the world.

New Zealand has a strong photonics education pathway, but does it have the same opportunities as the United Kingdom? What can we do to foster a larger photonics foot print within New Zealand? This talk aims to answer these two questions.

After the presentation, we'll head to the pub for some drinks.

Directions to find the room:

Head upstairs to the top floor of the library. At the top of the stairs turn left and head towards the Cambridgeshire Collection. The seminar room is just to the left of the collection.
