About this Event
Back by popular demand!
Join us for the second Kitchen medicine workshop - using foraged ingredients and kitchen staples we will be making an Elderberry Elixir. The elder tree has a long history in herbal medicine, popular for it’s flowers and berries. We will be using the berries to make an oxymel. The berries are well known to support the body during cold and flu season so as the season turns, join us around the table for a practical medicine making session. We will be exploring the properties of elderberries as well as favourite kitchen spices to of the ingredients and making a jar each to take home. We will be hosting this Kitchen Medicine Workshop with Intuitive Herbalist Charlotte Gordon at the Story Garden.
Join us for a practical session where we will:
- discuss good foraging practises and the right time of year for harvesting
- our personal experiences of kitchen medicine and home remedies
- prepare our own batch of elderberry oxymel
- explore the properties of each ingredient
We will provide:
- all the materials needed
- instructions for next steps once you go home
All you need to bring is a (minimum) 300ml jar
About the Space:
The Roundhouse is a wooden circular structure with a woodburning fire. There are two ramps for access and it is located within a community garden space. While we maintain the paths, there are uneven and slippery surfaces throughout, so please take care on arrival and exiting. Please speak to the team if you have specific accessibility needs.
About Charlotte:
Charlotte is an Intuitive Herbalist, forager, food grower, community gardener and teacher. She trained with The School of Intuitive Herbalism from 2015 and has been walking the plant path for the last 11 years. Charlotte shares the magic of the plant world alongside practical skills to introduce wild food and wild medicine into our everyday experience - teaching ‘medicine’ beyond the physical properties of the plants. Charlotte teaches foraging, practical medicine making sessions, and offers deep soul sessions in Intuitive Herbalism. She mentors as part of the school's online introduction course.
