Kintsugi: The Beauty in Imperfection

A hands-on Kintsugi workshop exploring imperfection, repair, and resilience through art, reflection, and Wabi-Sabi philosophy.
About this Event

What if the places where we’ve cracked are meant to be honored and not hidden?

In this Kintsugi-inspired, hands-on workshop, we’ll explore the beauty of imperfection through the ancient Japanese art of repairing broken pottery by highlighting its cracks with gold. Rather than disguising what’s been broken, Kintsugi invites us to make the repair visible—transforming damage into meaning, and rupture into strength.

This experience is both creative and reflective. You’ll be guided through a gentle journey of self-inquiry, vulnerability, and acceptance as you break and then restore a ceramic bowl, allowing the process to mirror your own experiences of change, challenge, and resilience.

Along the way, we’ll explore the philosophy of Wabi-Sabi, a way of seeing that finds value in imperfection, impermanence, and authenticity. Through guided reflection and shared presence, you’ll be invited to consider how your own “cracks” may hold wisdom, beauty, and strength.

In this workshop, you will:

  • Create a one-of-a-kind Kintsugi-inspired bowl using gold paint to highlight its repairs
  • Reflect on themes of vulnerability, wholeness, and self-acceptance in a compassionate, supportive space
  • Learn about the principles of Wabi-Sabi and how they apply to life, growth, and change
  • Leave with a meaningful piece of art that tells a story of resilience and transformation

No art experience is necessary. All materials are provided.

Come as you are. Leave with a deeper appreciation for what you’ve been through and what you’re becoming.

(Please note: finished bowls are decorative and not food-, microwave-, or dishwasher-safe.)
