About this Event
🎶 Kinship Community Choir - BIG SING 🎶
Come sing easy-to-learn group harmony songs in community!! This Community-Wide Big Sing Celebration is the culmination of Kinship Community Choir's spring season and we are inviting YOU to come sing with us us!!
All voices welcome!! No prior singing experience necessary.
For 6 weeks Kinship Community Choir gathered each Wednesday evening. We drank tea, we laughed, we made new connections, shed some tears- all while learning and singing new songs. And we are excited to sing these songs with YOU!! What songs, you ask?! Most of them are newer songs, written for the times we're in now and rooted in the greater global community singing movement, which is bringing a revival of singing in the oral tradition. This form of singing is meant to accessible, inclusive, and connective. Lead by Megan Eberhardt, there is no performing, no auditions, songs taught by ear (you do not have to read music!!).
Come experience the pleasure and power of sounding our voice in community!! And walk away with new singable songs in your pockets.
This event is family friendly, all ages welcome. You can register in advance or at the door. Tickets are sliding scale $10-30 with no one turned away. No tickets needed for kids.
“Singing is the language of grief and praise, wonder and wisdom; we sing the world we want to inhabit, and we sing to understand the world we live in now.” -Sarina Partridge
.
“There is no good or bad singing, only free or less free.” -Orion Johnstone.
ABOUT MEGAN:
Megan Eberhardt is a community songleader and cultural activist dedicated to fostering aliveness, belonging, and connection within and among us and with the natural world. Some days this looks like leading a song circle, some days it’s facilitating community grief ritual, some days it’s teaching stargazing under dark skies around the midwest, and most days include watching the sunrise, walks in Horner Park, and homade soup.
Did Megan spend her whole life in choirs and music rooms?! No she did not! Megan discovered group singing 10 years ago and the community singing movement in 2019. It's been a journey of heart, passion, and courage to get here. Megan's been leading community singing for 4 years, 3 years at the Old Town School of Folk Music. She's been teaching the stars to people for nearly a decade and more recently has begun facilitating community grief ritual.
