🌫️ O Sh M (*О Ш М - «Отдел по борьбе с шаровыми молниями» (The Department for Combating Ball Lightning), is a a debut short film by Vova Veselik and Oleg Pekar. It is a surreal, atmospheric exploration of absurdity, tension, and the mysteries of bureaucracy, inspired by urban legends about ball lightning.
Vova Veselik, an independent filmmaker and musician based in Warsaw, originally from Belarus. His creative journey began in the underground music scene, where he’s worked as a composer, sound designer, and performer under various aliases, including JARS, Serotonin Zero, ndpanda, Corner Room, and Jozep Obol. This passion for sound, photography, editing, and experimental storytelling naturally led him to filmmaking.
Oleg Pekar, a Belarus-born visual artist, merges photography, animation and narrative design.

“Apostate” was born from two intersecting obsessions — Frank Herbert’s Dune and the stark, brutalist architecture of East Helsinki. After watching Villeneuve’s adaptation, I felt the old fire return — a longing to build something vast, spiritual, and strange. I wandered through concrete corridors and cold northern light, imagining Bene Gesserit rituals unfolding in these forgotten corners of the city. This film is my love letter to the mythology of Dune and the alien beauty of a place I once called home.’ - Director’s statement by Gorsky.
Dani Gorsky is a filmmaker, cinematographer, and editor, currently residing in Almaty, Kazakhstan. With a background in music video and fashion production, his visual style is rooted in atmosphere — marked by high contrast lighting, precise composition, and a minimalist, emotionally charged aesthetic. A graduate of cinematography studies in St. Petersburg, and directing and screenwriting courses in Helsinki, Dani shifted his focus toward narrative fiction, drawn to stories that examine power, faith, and class conflict. When not directing, he continues to work across both commercial and artistic formats, always exploring new ways to merge sound, image, and structure into evocative visual storytelling.
