The Louis Diene Faye Foundation produces the Kings & Queens of Africa “The Rebirth of a Nation” show. The theme of the event “Remember & honor the past; Preserve the present; Shape the future”.
Kings & Queens of Africa Lifestyle & Arts is held in September each year and it is one of the most unique cultural events that embraces the power of tradition, educates, celebrates and promotes the achievements and contributions of Africans and people of African descent through art, music, theater, fashion, design, dance, drumming, spoken word, comedy and storytelling. The musical, instrumental, design and fashion performances present one of its kind theatrical runway shows, the reenactments of the Kings, Queens, Princes, Princesses & Warriors of Africa: Theme “The Untold Story.”.
It is a family-oriented event filled with learning through history, culture, visual and performing arts, from various communities and backgrounds fostering unity and celebrating the beauty of diversity.
The three-day events include workshops, art exhibits, red carpet entrance, interviews, Meet & Greet Reception with VIP, dignitaries, celebrities, speakers, filmmakers, media personalities, crowned Misses and Misters, influencers and performers.
The show features Grammy Award Winning songwriter, Grammy Nominee World historian and musician, international Gospel recording artist, an ancestral Master Drummer, an internationally recognized actress, comedian, poet/spoken word artist, a playwright and teacher, international sustainable fashion designer, renowned fashion designers, performers, special guests, speakers and a renowned artist and sculptor and more.
This community celebration includes international and the most dynamic emerging artists and fashion designers from the diaspora in the DMV who will be unveiled in the weeks leading up to the African History Month Events.
