About this Event
Welcome to Kin & Glow
Join us for the opening night of Kin & Glow, a spring exhibition celebrating two generations of artists and a shared love of painting.
Emily Beaudoin's new body of work is a return to where she started. Her roots as an artist are wildlife, painted in black and white, long before mountains and watercolour became her language. This collection picks that thread back up and pushes it somewhere new: wildlife rendered in black acrylic paint pen on birch panel, set against colourful, impressionistic interpretations of each animal's habitat, built with spray paint.
Calgary artist Jackie Ramsay has painted her whole life and shown extensively in Calgary. She works in gouache and acrylic, painting contemporary florals and landscapes with a loose, instinctive joy. Her work is full of feeling and knows exactly when to stop. Jackie has been Emily's mentor since she was a kid, and this show is the first time they've hung their work on the same wall.
Together they are two artists who love paint, love the outdoors, and wanted to make something worth showing up for.
