Musician, visual artist, and founding member of Sonic Youth, Kim Gordon will appear in Berlin to support her second solo LP ππ©π¦ ππ°πππ¦π€π΅πͺπ·π¦, brilliantly current in its grinding approximation of capitalist horrors, ransacking of social media bleakness, and playful evisceration of toxic masculinity. Released by Matador, ππ©π¦ ππ°πππ¦π€π΅πͺπ·π¦ pulses with damaged, blown out dub and trap constructions playing the foil to Gordonβs intuitive word collages and hooky mantras that conjure communication, commercial sublimation and sensory overload.
Opening for Gordon is Gudrun Gut, the German subcultural icon who rose to prominence in β80s Berlin as part of Mania D, Matador, Malaria!, and EinstΓΌrzende Neubauten. As a key figure in Berlinβs underground and longtime colleague and friend of Gordonβs, Gut still casts an aura of mechanized rhythms and frozen emotional palettes, but decades of improvisation and collaboration have deepened her sense of composition and melody beyond easy genre categorization.
