Description:
Chess, like other strategy games is ideal for young people as it enables them to put into action learning, strategies and ideas and build on the results.
Indeed, we know that very little is needed for our kids to learn and progress in any one topic, typically their interest and access to content will suffice.
Our aim with the Chess Club is to support them in building today the skills that will allow them to thrive in society and develop technique that will help them maintain a positive mental health.
We endeavour to create a safe and caring environment where, under the guise of playing chess, the children will be challenged, often more emotionally than intellectually, and forge essential skills for their short-, medium- and long-term future.
Since the course has been set up, we have been working, hand in hand with the parents to supporting their children in overcoming their perfectionism; building perseverance in the face of adversity; and many more essentiel skills.
This Taster session has been set up for children to get an idea of what each chess club session will be like; who we are; how we will be interacting with one another during the sessions and what the kids can expect from attending the club.

The clubs are set up in parallel to the academic calendar with 5 sessions per half-term. Booking and payments are made on the basis of 1 full term (i.e. 10 sessions) at a time. The price per session is £18.00.
