Saturday, October 4 is “Take a Kid Mountain Biking” day. To celebrate the day the Weatherford Mountain Bike Club (WMBC) is hosting an open kid’s ride day at The Pit in downtown Aledo. The Pit is a kids mountain bike skills area and trail located behind the Aledo Community Center (104 Robinson Ct, Aledo, TX 76008) in downtown Aledo. The Pit consists of small rollers, berms, rock gardens, and bridges suitable for kids and beginners and includes an 1,800 linear foot singletrack trail that meanders around the community center property and nearby creek. The Pit was entirely built with volunteer effort and cooperation with area businesses and citizens that provided services, materials, and funding. The Aledo Community Center has plenty of parking, a pavilion, nearby restaurants, a coffee shop, and stores.
The WMBC will provide four Specialized Hot Walk strider bikes and helmets for any parent who is interested in introducing their kid to the awesome world of riding a bicycle on dirt. We’ll be handing out free WMBC logo festooned t-shirts and stickers while supplies last from 9-11am.
