The Canyon Callers are Melbourne's western swing super group, starring Ben Franz, Jacob McGuffie and Brooke Russell. Playing at the intersection of jazz and country, the band revisit the great swing classics of the 50s, with some honky tonk classics added for extra twang. Perfect for two-stepping, or just tapping your toes, The Canyon Callers play the hits of Western Swing from the likes of Bob Wills & His Texas Playboys, Cindy Walker, Faron Young, Asleep at the Wheel and more. With pedal steel, blazing guitars, and delicious harmonies, this swinging group will put a spring and a swing in your step!The Canyon Callers were brought together by their love of jazz and country music, finding the perfect blend in western swing’s melding of both worlds. Having played as session musicians with Michael Waugh, The Waifs, Mick Thomas, Jeff Lang, Rebecca Barnard, and more, the band were featured on ABC TV’s Spicks and Specks in 2024 and have gained a dedicated following in Melbourne with their live shows.
