About this Event

Please join us at the Leica Gallery Boston for an immersive, experiential event that celebrates women and ongoing advances in representation. We invite you to actively participate in an inaugural live podcast conversation with the founders, Frances Jakubek and Meg Griffiths and two additional A Yellow Rose Project artists, Jordanna Kalman and Kathya Maria Landeros.

This 2-part event celebrates women visual storytellers and the ongoing evolution of their representation. Our panelists will share their creative practice and how this informed their YRP image-making. Concept Aware podcast creator and host, J. Sybylla Smith,  will moderate an unscripted conversation and welcome audience participation. Leica Camera, USA has offered sponsorship of the Concept Aware podcast, a global visual culture conversation focused on creative process and the photobook making process.

Leica Camera USA, A Yellow Rose Project, and Concept Aware® share a mission to amplify narratives that expand the breadth and depth of visual storytelling.

Our follow-up event will offer an invitation for you to partake in this collective photographic collaboration by creating your own image of response, reflection, or reaction to the centennial of the ratification of the 19th Amendment*. We will share these collected images in an interactive event of sharing these images on March 8th, International Women’s Day.

The Leica Store and Gallery will offer loaner cameras and be on hand for technical questions regardless of your camera of choice as you craft your interpretation in a unique image.

*A Yellow Rose Project invited over one hundred women across the United States to come together in photographic collaboration. These photographers were asked to make work in response, reflection, or reaction to the ratification of the 19th Amendment. From inception, the goal of this project was to provide a focal point and platform for image makers to share contemporary viewpoints as we approach the centennial of this event, to gain a deeper understanding of American history and culture, to build a bridge from the past to the present and future.
