About this Event
Stop-Motion Animation Workshop:
Animation is a magical medium. With it we create worlds and explore dreams, memories, and storytelling. In this two-part workshop taught by award-winning director and educator Maya Erdelyi, participants will explore a short story/scenario and bring it to life through stop-motion animation. Experiment with different approaches under the camera, learn how to build and animate a cut-paper puppet, and create backgrounds and props. Participants will explore some of the fundamentals of animated movement, timing, and use of materials through various animation techniques, including drawing on paper, pixilation, puppet animation, and other stop-motion experiments. If time we will also discuss storyboarding basics, shot lists and how to plan for animating a longer story. The workshop will include a few screenings of animations past and present. Workshop will conclude with a sharing of work created.
Please note, no experience is necessary! This class will be taught as a beginner's course.
