PIEOWA: A PIECE OF AMERICA, an award-winning documentary film by Beth M. Howard, celebrates the myriad ways pie is woven into Iowa’s—and America’s—culture, the lengths people will go to for a slice, and how this humble pastry can bake the world a better place. Featuring comedian Tom Arnold, NPR economics correspondent Scott Horsley (NPR = No Pie Refused), Better Homes & Gardens food editor, church ladies, State Fair competitors, food historians, bike riders, pie shop owners, and more. Wholesome, uplifting, and humorous, it will leave you both hopeful and hungry for pie. The LA Times calls it “a soulful slice of Americana." Run time: 76 minutes. The Q&A with the filmmaker on Wed. March 11 will be moderated by KCRW's "Good Food" host Evan Kleiman, and on Thur. March 12 by CNN Entertainment reporter David Daniel. Pie will be served afterward. You are welcome to bring a pie to share.
