ART EXHIBITION AT PAPER OR PLASTIK CAFETwo artists with distinct paths come together in a shared exhibition. Marina Smetanina, known for her icon painting and restoration background, presents The Quiet Life of Simple Things, a series reflecting on memory and the quiet presence of everyday objects.
Her co-exhibitor, an Emmy Award-winning art director Dmitry Malanitchev whose work includes The Simpsons Movie, represents a career rooted in animation and visual storytelling. The show brings together reflection and narrative design
Dima Malanichev:
I like getting lost in thoughts and turning them into pictures.
Sometimes they are strange, sometimes funny, sometimes sharp.
This exhibition is a small collection of things I found inside my head and decided to share
Marina Smetanina:
The series The Quiet Life of Simple Things grew out of home-studio experiments with materials and their unexpected combinations. Looking closely at familiar everyday objects — the ones always nearby — the artist uses color and form to speak about memory, home, and the quiet life of things that seem to know more about us than we do about them.
