About the Book
Poets from the United States and beyond respond to the 2024 Presidential election. The poems are rooted in a belief that the incoming administration will not relieve or heal us from our nation’s past: the destruction of the environment, the unbridled use of power, the pervasive narrative that Black lives do not matter, patriarchy, reproductive injustice for women, silent support for the US Pr*son-industrial complex, and the lack of compassion for diverse gender identity, immigrants, the indigenous, and unsheltered populations. The editorial team worked tirelessly for six weeks to publish this anthology before the January 20, 2025 inauguration.
About the Lead Editors
Katie Sarah Zale is a writer and editor, president of the Arizona State Poetry Society, and facilitator for the Compassionate Listening Project. She believes in the power of the arts to transform and heal ourselves and the world.
Paul E. Nelson founded the Cascadia Poetics LAB & the Cascadia Poetry Festival. Books include (2024); (2024); (2022); (2020); (2018); (2015, 2021); A Time Before Slaughter (2009). Co-Editor of (2025, Carbonation Press); Cascadian Zen Volume I: Bioregional Writings on Cascadia Here and Now (2023, Watershed Press), Make it True meets Medusario (2019) (Spanish & English) and other anthologies. He’s Literary Executor for the late poet Sam Hamill and lives in Rainier Beach, alongside dxʷwuqʷeb Creek.
