Kalari with Kajal - Kalaripayattu\/self-defense workshop With Kajal Srivastava

Kalaripayattu is an Indian Martial art that dates back to 200 B.C. It is known to be the art of battlefield as practised by warriors of India. What sets Kalaripayattu apart from other fitness activities is its therapeutic and scientific approach towards providing health benefits to the mind and body. Being an ancient art of self-defence it is derived directly from nature and is based on the survival instincts of animals in their wildness. The event will be about creating awareness about this intangible cultural heritage of India and practising fitness in this "traditional" sport way.


For: Women of all ages and backgrounds

Level: Beginner

Instructions for participants: 1. Please have food at least 1 hour before the session. 2. Come in comfortable workout clothes 3. Kalari is done barefoot on the floor so no slippers & mats are needed. 4. Be hydrated.


About Kajal

She is shishya under Gurukkal Shinto Matthew Kalari Kendram and has completed stage 3 of the Vadakkan style of the art form. She has been published for her work in various newspapers and media platforms like The Hindu UNESCO Deutschland funk kultur Vanitha Dainik Bhaskar Dainik Jagran etc. and social media platforms like The Workmob The TALKx Storiyaan The Entrepreneur Ethics and many more for her work under TAVASI.


Kajal has taken workshops for more than 200 students since its inception for various schools corporate firms & street children under her social program and movement. She has performed with her Gurukul at various platforms like Sangeet Natak Akademy.


Her last project was a 15-day In-school Kalaripayattu workshop with PRAKRITI SCHOOL NOIDA and she is currently working in collaboration with the prestigious platform BOOK MY SHOW. 


The mission and vision are to spread Kalaripayattu the art of warrior Gods that has survived the test of time towards sustaining everyday life in a fast-paced world to the country's northern parts and globally due to its prodigious benefits. We are simply spreading what our ancestors truly believed in - physical discipline is the key to mental health and spiritual well-being.
