When thinking about the impact of past and present justice involvement on individuals we in engage in a variety of settings there are multiple aspects to consider. One overarching theme is how do individuals deal with and process their past or present justice involvement. Whether they are a young person or an adult interaction with the justice system can have a profound impact. This presentation will lean into how to effectively connect with individuals who have had past or present justice involvement and the potential impact on the use of substances and mental health concerns using a whole person-centered trauma informed approach.

Learning Objectives

Participants will lean into the prevalence of past and present interaction with the justice system by individuals who use substances and have mental health challenges.

Participants will lean into how to integrate a whole person-centered trauma informed approach in work with individuals who have had past and or present justice interactions and involvement.

Participants will learn how to support individuals who in they meet in variety of space as they process and/or navigate past and present justice involvement.
