Join USA Today bestselling author Emily Krempholtz for this writing workshop with Page by Page, the writing program at Petals & PagesAbout this Event
Learning to write rich, engaging, and swoonworthy romantasy is about so much more than inventing a magic system or picking your favorite tropes (though let’s be real, those are fun too).
Whether you’ve got a manuscript in progress or are just starting to develop a shiny new idea, join us for an interactive two-hour workshop as we explore:
- Romantasy as a unique tool for powerful storytelling
- What it is you’re trying to say through your worldbuilding, story, and characters
- The romantic arc between your characters and how it plays into the greater narrative (including spicy scenes, if you’d like your book to contain them)
- What the romantasy genre looks like in today’s publishing landscape, and what that means for you as a writer
Writers of all levels of experience and at any stage of the writing process are welcome in this workshop. We will be focusing on strengthening your story as a whole rather than individual scenes or chapters, so while you are welcome to bring your work in progress (if you have one), you may not be working directly in your manuscript during this workshop.
Please note that this class will contain open, sex-positive discussions of romance and adult content, which may not be comfortable for all writers.
AUTHOR BIO: Emily Krempholtz is the USA Today bestselling author of Violet Thistlewaite Is Not a Villain Anymore. She is an award-winning book coach, editor, and bestselling ghostwriter, and loves to write books full of magic, romance, whimsy, and wordplay.
