About this Event
Does your outdoorsy child know what to do in an emergency?
Whether it’s a scraped knee, bite or strain, they will learn how to help at this Junior Ranger (ages 8–12) BUSH BASICS session at Walkabout Creek Discovery Centre, led by first-aid trainer Scott from St John Ambulance Queensland.
This FREE fun experience will help Junior Rangers learn simple first-aid skills, stay calm in tricky situations, and know how to help someone if they get hurt.
Juniors Rangers will learn how to:
✔ Stay calm and safe in an emergency
✔ Recognise when someone needs medical help
✔ Call 000 and clearly explain their location
✔ Place someone in the recovery position.
What to wear: Wear a hat and comfortable clothing, such as shorts or pants, as Juniors Rangers will be doing practical activities outside at ground level.
While this isn't an official qualification, Junior Rangers will feel confident to assist when it matters most. The session may discuss injuries and emergencies, so make sure this is suitable for your child before booking.
Parks Connect is proudly supported through funding from the Queensland Department of the Environment, Tourism, Science and Innovation.
