About this Event
Do you know what to do if you have a mishap in the bush?
Whether it’s a scraped knee, sprain or sting, you’ll know exactly how to help after this Cadet Ranger (ages 13–17) FOREST FIRST AID session at David Fleay Wildlife Park with first-aid trainer Scott from St John Ambulance Queensland.
This completely FREE, fully supervised experience will give Cadets the knowledge and confidence to respond to some of Australia’s most common first-aid emergencies.
You will learn how to:
✔ Stay calm and safe in an emergency
✔ Recognise when someone needs medical help
✔ Call 000 and clearly explain your location
✔ Place someone in the recovery position
✔ Perform compression-only CPR.
What to wear: Wear a hat and comfortable clothing, such as shorts or pants, as you’ll be doing practical activities at ground level.
While this isn't an official qualification, you’ll feel empowered to step up when it matters most. The session may discuss injuries and emergencies, so make sure this is suitable for you before booking.
Parks Connect is proudly supported through funding from the Queensland Department of the Environment, Tourism, Science and Innovation.
