The Junior Jazz Lab is a program by 11th Hour Music where students learn to play jazz in a small group setting, with a focus on improvisation. Students from Junior Jazz Lab regularly win scholarships to the music school of their choice and their groups perform in local venues and at charity events across the region. We are proud to welcome back Minh Vo, one of the first graduates of the Junior Jazz Lab program, as a guest artist.
Minh Vo is one of his generation’s leading pianists in the Maryland and Washington D.C. area. Known for his deep-rooted yet contemporary musical language and unique compositions, Vo evokes a sound akin to Herbie Hancock, Kenny Kirkland, Mulgrew Miller, and Oscar Peterson. His musicianship has taken him to highly esteemed local venues such as Keystone Korner Baltimore, Blues Alley, Capital One Hall, Mid-Atlantic Jazz Festival, and more. In recent years, Vo has also played around the country in cities such as San Francisco, California and Seattle, Washington.
