Join us for a meaningful and welcoming community event at Allen Chapel AME Church as we celebrate Juneteenth with authentic soul food, local history, and fellowship.The Juneteenth Soul Food Celebration will take place on Saturday, June 13, from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Allen Chapel AME Church, located at 153 E. Tompkins Street in Galesburg. Guests will enjoy free soul food served on a first come, first served basis while supplies last. Free will donations are appreciated.
The event will also feature two educational experiences: one highlighting the history and significance of Juneteenth, and another sharing the rich story of Allen Chapel AME Church — the oldest African American church in Knox County, Illinois, founded in 1853 in historic Galesburg.
