Why Black Rocks?
We started Black Rocks to create a safe and joyful space for Black climbers to connect, climb, and be celebrated in the climbing world. While this space was created by and for Black folks, everyone is welcome to join in and show love.
What is Juneteenth?
Juneteenth marks the end of slavery in the U.S., when the last enslaved Black Americans in Texas were finally freed in 1865, two years after slavery was legally abolished. It reminds us of the brutal reality of slavery: generations of people violently stripped of freedom, dignity, and basic human rights. Juneteenth honors their suffering, resilience, and the ongoing fight for justice and true equality.
