The June Jordan Salon is a space for intentional conversation, art, culture and political thought.
The inspiration for hosting salons in Harlem came as a longing for more intentional creative community and through learning of The Dark Tower Salon: lush gatherings hosted by A’Lelia Walker; Madam CJ Walker’s queer daughter. Known by Langston Hughes as “The Joy Goddess of Harlem”. These events brought together leading figures in Black politics, arts and literature propelling what we know now as The Harlem Renaissance.
A century later The June Jordan Salon is a ritual toward reigniting flourishing networks of radical culture and movement community now.✨
