Accudetox:
When combined with standard withdrawal management protocols, AcuDetox can produce several benefits. The benefits will begin to appear minutes after the needles are inserted. This is due to the stimulation of the particular sites in the ear, which causes a release of the feel-good chemicals called endorphins. The person will feel a sense of calm come over them almost immediately.
AcuDetox has shown several benefits related specifically to substance withdrawal support. These include:
Reduces substance cravings
Reduces the severity of withdrawal symptoms
Reduces symptoms of anxiety
Reduces substance dependency
Improves sleep quality
Improves concentration
Improves substance treatment retention
In addition to the substance recovery benefits, AcuDetox has some mental health benefits as well. Many in recovery also struggle with comorbid anxiety, PTSD, or ADHD, all conditions that can benefit to some extent from auricular acupuncture.
Certain insertion points in the ear help produce an inner sense of quiet and peacefulness. This assists people with these co-occurring conditions by reducing the following symptoms:
Hyperactivity
Insomnia
Panic attacks
Fear
Sweating
Mood swings
Attention deficit disorders
Presenter:
Jasmine Aranda, LPC, LAC, ADS, AAT is the Clinical Operations and Compliance Officer at Foundry Treatment Center. She has worked in the field of addiction for well over thirty years, working with individuals both in an outpatient and inpatient setting, as well as those who are seeking treatment voluntarily and those who find themselves in court-ordered treatment. Jasmine has experience treating those who are struggling with various forms of addiction, co-occurring disorders, and trauma. She has a Master’s degree in clinical counseling from the University of Northern Colorado and a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of Colorado. Jasmine is a Licensed Professional Counselor and Licensed Addiction Counselor through the State of Colorado, as well as in Wyoming as a Professional Counselor (LPC) and an Addiction Therapist (LAT). In addition, she is EMDR trained, a Tobacco Treatment Specialist, an Acupuncture Detox Specialist, and an Acupuncture Acu-Technician and Trainer.
Since being at the Foundry under the direction of Dr. Michael Barnes, Jasmine began to focus on trauma-integrated care which involves the polyvagal theory. It aids clients in calming their autonomic nervous system (ANS) to develop the skills they need for recovery, regulate their emotions, and gain insight into their behaviors. Acudetox (5NP) is one of the tools she uses to aid clients in calming their ANS. Clients report feeling better after treatment, as well as experiencing improved sleep. Some clients report increased insight into themselves. She also uses this treatment modality with clients in detox. It is not uncommon for her clients to request additional treatments because they find it beneficial. She even refers to the process as AccuWellness as it can be used for individuals even if they are not experiencing detox symptoms or have never been through withdraw in their life time.
