Virtual Workshop Description

In celebration of Disability Pride month, NICOS invites folks to register for our second offering of our Neurodiversity and Disability Awareness workshop. Neurodiversity is a concept that has emerged to describe people with neurological disabilities, such as Autism, who cognitively process the world differently than what society considers “typical”. During this workshop, participants will have the opportunity to expand their understanding of neurodiversity and the different disabilities under this framework. In addition, participants will explore the medical and social model of disability as well as intersectionality as it relates to the neurodivergent identity. Finally, participants will engage in an activity to promote an inclusive environment for neurodiverse people.
