The page-turning story of three women reporters and the way they changed the world, work, and journalism.
About this Event

Julia Cooke's Starry and Restless follows the path-breaking female reporters Rebecca West, Emily "Mickey" Hahn, and Martha Gellhorn through the 1930s, '40s, and '50s, drawing on unpublished correspondence between the three writers to chronicle both their extraordinary travels and careers and their rich and complex personal lives.

Join Julia Cooke & Ada Calhoun for an evening of readings and conversation, featuring excerpts from the archival letters between Hahn, Gellhorn, and West. From their perspective as women writers and journalists navigating the field today, Cooke and Calhoun will discuss what these intimate exchanges between the women who came before them reveal, and the different ways we have of constructing history and accessing and understanding the past.

Along with a discussion and audience Q&A, Julia will also sign copies of her book.

Tickets and books are available both on eventbrite and at the door. Doors will open at 6:30, with the talk starting closer to 7pm.
