JOY MACHINE — Season 2, Episode 1 | AI FILM MAKING IS ABOUT TO GET SERIOUS.

Thursday, February 26, 2026 | Doors: 6:00 PM | Screening: 6:30 PM – 9:30 PM

I'm Alan, and together with Omar, JOY MACHINE IS BACK, AND SEASON TWO STARTS TONIGHT...

...and we're not easing into it.

Joy Machine was never meant to be a class. We didn't build this to teach you software or walk you through prompts. We built it because we believe AI & tradional filmmakers belong in this conversation. And right now, that conversation is moving fast enough to leave people behind.

That cannot happen.

The past year in AI filmmaking wasn't just impressive; it was instructive. From Runway's Aleph 2 to Google's Veo 3.1, from Kling 3.0 to Minimax to Hunyuan, Seedance 2.0 from 8-second viral clips to proper narrative features, the medium matured in real time, in public, and largely without us. Without the people who actually know what cinema is and what it can do.

That changes tonight.

What we're screening:

We open with a five ten-minute look back — the tools, the moments, and the works that genuinely shifted what AI filmmaking could be. Then we go deep: 60+ minutes of the year's most significant films. Viral hits, artistic breakthroughs, weird experiments that hint at something bigger.

We close with an honest conversation about where this goes next.

Why this matters to you specifically:

AI is not a threat to filmmakers who engage with it.

But it is indifferent to filmmakers who don't.

The technology is being shaped right now by engineers, by tech companies, by whoever shows up. Creatives have a narrow window to influence what this medium becomes before it calcifies into something we inherit rather than something we build.

That window is open. Tonight we welcome you to step through it.

We don't think of AI as a tool. A hammer is a tool. AI is an instrument, and instruments respond to people who know how to play them.

If you've spent years understanding light, story, rhythm, and the weight of an image, you are exactly who should be in this room.

Who this is for:

Filmmakers. Directors. Cinematographers. Writers. Anyone who has ever cared deeply about what a moving image can do, and wants a say in where it goes next.

Tickets: Free with RSVP. Limited to 137 attendees.

Come meet Season 2.
