📍 WHAT IS THIS SCHOOL?
This is an international community of people around the world who have devoted their lives to inner work in the tradition of the Fourth Way, without renouncing ordinary life — family responsibilities, work, hobbies, and so on. The central idea of this work is to bring awareness into every moment of one’s life by freeing oneself from imagination, identification, and negative emotions. The school has existed for more than 50 years, includes approximately 1,500 participants, and has several dozen centers worldwide, including a center in Sacramento. 📍 WHAT IS THE FOURTH WAY?
The «Fourth Way», also known as the «Way of the Sly Man», is a path of human spiritual evolution based on work with attention and the practice of «self-remembering». Unlike the three traditional paths of the fakir, the monk, and the yogi, the Fourth Way does not require withdrawal from life into a solitary cave or a monastery. On the contrary, the circumstances in which a person already lives are considered the most suitable for beginning self-observation and the application of conscious efforts. In Europe, the Fourth Way became known through Georgii Ivanovich Gurdjieff, who «translated» the ideas of the Fourth Way into the language of the European mind, and through his student Pyotr Demianovich Ouspensky, who systematized the knowledge received from Gurdjieff in his books In Search of the Miraculous and The Fourth Way.
