About this Event

Walk a CyanLine - it's FREE!

Following our first popular CyanLines walk, we're inviting you to join our second! On Sunday 29th March we'll explore a corridor of blue, green and Nobel prizes around Oxford Street where historic university buildings, museums and galleries rub shoulders with regenerated parkland. This route has it all: heroic architecture, canal side walks, delicious green spaces and industrial, scientific, cultural and political significance.

St Peter's Square to Whitworth Park 2.89 mile route:

We'll meet outside the Emmeline Pankhurst statue, "Rise Up Women" and stroll a short distance south, past Bridgewater Hall and along the Rochdale Canal to Oxford Road. The walk connects parks in and around the 'knowledge corridor', museums, and explores Manchester Metropolitan University and the University of Manchester. We'll then meander through not one but four beautiful parks - quiet partners to the hustle and bustle of neighbouring Oxford Road/Street - including: the green oasis of Symphony Park, the student haven and revamped All Saints Park, and the reimagined space of Brunswick Park (once a road). The well-used family park and art gallery of Whitworth Park will mark the end of the guided tour but why not explore the extensive collection at the Whitworth Art Gallery and grab refreshments in the glass cafe overlooking the park. It's a perfect way to spend a spring Sunday.
