About this Event
Johnny Hunter is a Manchester-based drummer and composer who comes from a background in both the avant-garde and more mainstream jazz. He performed with the band Leda Atomica before moving into jazz and free improvisation.
His latest project, ‘Now It Can Be Told’, showcases his post-rock roots, exploring electronics in jazz. Performed by a stellar band, the project has appeared at the Liverpool International Jazz Festival and at London’s Kings Place, where John Fordham called it “an imaginative set of 21st-century bebop mixed with electronic echoes” (The Guardian, June 2016).
Line up: Chris Sharkey – guitar 🎸, Dee Byrne – alto sax 🎷, Michael Bardon – bass guitar 🎸, Johnny Hunter – drums 🥁
