About this Event
John Bischoff: A Sound Installation; Recordings 1975 - 2025
In celebration of Nelson Duni’s exhibition, Elmer Bischoff, composer John Bischoff, the artist’s son, will present a sound installation that unfolds across the gallery space, offering a broad survey of his electronic work from the past fifty years. John is an accomplished composer best known as an early pioneer of live computer music.
Mirroring the temporal and stylistic range of his father’s paintings on view, the installation draws from recorded compositions spanning 1975 to 2025. An added live element will gradually move the stereo sound field through the space as the music proceeds.
Designed as an open, immersive environment, the installation allows visitors to enter and exit freely, move through the space, or sit and listen at their own pace. One portion of the gallery will serve as the primary sound field, while the remaining space remains open for reflection and conversation. A printed program and live display will guide listeners through the sequence of works, offering titles, dates, and technology. Bischoff will be present and available for dialogue, questions, and exchange throughout.
