Joel Medina (he/him) is a proud LGBTQ+ person of color who spent his life devouring all things pop culture - for better and worse (he watched Final Destination way too young). Born and raised in LA County, he spent his summers watching every movie he could find for free online and spent his school years reading books instead of paying attention in class. An undergrad at the University of California, Santa Barbara, showed him that he could use his love for talking loudly and nonstop for good. When he wasn’t studying culture as a Sociology Major with an Applied Psych minor, he worked at the school’s LGBTQ+ resource center.

Joel has been proud to flex his skills across a variety of mediums. He’s been proud to return to Santa Barbara to speak in panels on the importance of pop culture for the LGBTQ+ community, and he can currently be heard on fellow writer Michael Block’s podcast, BlockTalk, yapping about Survivor 46. His proudest moment has been interviewing Drag Queens Crystal Methyd and Heidi N Clo
