Egy éjszaka, három történet Memphisben. Három nézőpontból. Jim Jarmusch kitalált ehhez a filmhez egy végtelenül izgalmas történetmesélést. (Későbbi filmjeiben is gyakran választja a mesemondás szokatlan formáit.) Ráadásul ezt csak a második történetben leplezi le. Innen kezdve viszont másként nézzük a filmet. Gonosz egy trükk, mert arra késztet bennünket, hogy sokkal alaposabban figyeljünk a részletekre, az apró jelekre. Van aztán még egy különlegessége ennek a filmnek: a szereposztás. Jim Jarmusch az évek során felépített egy Jarmusch-truppot. John Lurie után belépett a társulatba Roberto Benigni és Nicoletta Braschi, Tom Waits, Steve Buscemi. S bár a vonatok rejtélye Elvisre és zenéjére van kihegyezve, a film tele van remek énekesekkel – akik ez alkalommal nem énekelnek.Eredeti nyelven, magyar felirattal.

Three stories taking place over the course of a single night in Memphis, seen from three different points of view. Jim Jarmusch has come up with an incredibly exciting storytelling technique for this film. (He has often chosen unusual narrative forms in his later works.) Furthermore, he only reveals it in the second part of the triptych. From this point on, however, we look at the film differently. It’s a diabolically clever trick, because it forces us to pay much closer attention to details, to small clues. There is something else that is special about this film: the cast. Over the years, Jarmusch has built up what is practically his own troupe. Starting with John Lurie, the company grew to include Roberto Benigni and Nicoletta Braschi, Tom Waits and Steve Buscemi. And although the mystery of the trains focuses on Elvis and his music, this film is full of great singers, who, on this occasion, refrain from singing.
