About this Event
Join us as we celebrate Jewish Heritage Month with a special evening highlighting
Jewish history, culture, and artistic expression.
Jewish Heritage Month is an opportunity for all of us to celebrate Jewish traditions,
art, culture, and history, and to honour the contributions of Canada’s Jewish
community. It is also a time for reflection on how we can actively oppose
antisemitism, violence, and xenophobia.

About the Art
This art exhibition showcases Gina Godfrey’s portraits of famous Jewish people. It is
historical, not only with the stars of their era but also the medium used that
represents the evolving stages of the artist. There is great attention given to the
subject, the background and the light and colour in the way she feels about each
portrait. The most recent pieces have dramatic high-contrast, using lighter tones to
highlight cheekbones that create a bold luxurious and timeless silhouette.
Jewish stars in Hollywood are increasingly embracing their heritage as a form of
solidarity against rising antisemitism, a rejection of historical pressure to assimilate,
and a desire for authentic representation while early Hollywood founders often hid
their identity to avoid discrimination. Modern actors like Timothee Chalamet, Pink
and Gal Gadot are using their platforms to reclaim their Jewish identity often in
response to intense public scrutiny and misinformation.
