We’re honoured to present two programmes of excellent short films made in Jersey, or made by Jersey filmmakers currently living elsewhere; also two films made by Guernsey filmmakers. Ranging in style from a poetic Jèrrais piece, two dramas, a period film and a documentary made in Uganda by a Jersey filmmaker. Many of the filmmakers will be present to introduce their films.

Vendrédi | Friday | May 22nd | 6pm | 91 mins
Vraiqu'sie
Natasha Dettman / Jersey / 2026 / 14 mins
Jèrriais for ‘seaweed gathering’, Vraiqu'sie follows a group of ‘vraiqu’rêsses’ whose labour transforms into a ritual that honours the symbiotic relationship between land and sea. With a soundtrack of Jèrriais songs, the film is a meditative reflection on community, creativity, memory, and ecological connection.
Quicksand
Rebecca Coley / Jersey / 2025 / 11 mins
Cecilia embarks on a challenging new chapter, balancing the roles of both partner and carer for her husband, Albert, who is living with young-onset Alzheimer’s disease.
Latcho Drom (Good Road)
Lottie Graham / United Kingdom / 2024 / 19 mins
As Sonnyboy, a young Romani man, struggles to come to terms with his father’s passing, a series of events threaten the family and their way of life.
Albert
Joshua G. R. Fletcher / Guernsey / 2025 / 17 mins
The Island of Guernsey, 1690. As echoes of the island's witch trials linger, a recluse farmer must quickly hide his connection to the forces of nature. Based on a folk tale, the film searches for the truth in the myth, exploring the fight between nature and order, witchcraft and religion.
The Comfort Dogs of Uganda
Richard Wainwright / 2025 / Australia / 30 mins
For the former child soldiers of rebel warlord Joseph Kony, the shock of abduction and the unspeakable atrocities they witnessed left a scarring impact. But in the shadow of the brutal conflict, a remarkable story unfolds through the unexpected companionship of rescued dogs. The film follows the transformative bond between these fellow survivors, as together they learn to trust, to love, and to reclaim their lives.
