About this Event
“America was on its way out, the stranger insisted.”
Join us at H&H Books on Tuesday 4/15 at 7 PM as we welcome author & editor Jeremy Gordon and musician & poet Sadie Dupuis to discuss Jeremy’s debut novel, SEE FRIENDSHIP.
SEE FRIENDSHIP centers on a culture critic named Jacob who becomes obsessed with the idea of producing a podcast in an effort to dodge the layoffs plaguing the digital media industrial complex. He settles on investigating the tragic & mysterious death of his high school classmate, Seth. What begins as a work project becomes an obsession set at the foggy intersection of high school memory, the inevitability of grief, and existential inquiry.
"It's rare to find a novel about the internet that's as enthralling as my iPhone–not to mention one that is this funny, confident, and genuinely moving.” - Lauren Oyler
“At once a love story of friendship and a picaresque page-turner for the podcast generation, the novel is refreshingly humane in its portrait of the ongoing mystery of loss.” - Isle McElroy
“A smart and rueful debut that offers a sly critique of the podcast industry and how some shows treat real humans as characters and their pain and insight as mere content.” - Library Journal
You can read the first chapter of SEE FRIENDSHIP at the Cleveland Review of Books.
We’ll have copies of the novel for sale at H&H Books on the evening of the event, which Jeremy will sign after our discussion. (We’ll have copies of Sadie’s poetry collection Cry Perfume for sale, too.) Questions? Email [email protected].
