Sponsored by the Belleville Jazz Society, Trillium Wood golf club, CIBC Private Wealth, Rufo Real Estate Team, Music Performance Trust Fund, and Belleville Downtown District.Howard Rees is the Toronto-born, New York-trained jazz pianist who organized the 2022 Belleville Jazz Festival. Howard is a jazz musician and he is passionate about mentoring and developing a love of music in children. He founded the “We Are One” project and mentored hundreds of school children in the Toronto area, teaching them music and helping to build their confidence.
Howard has been playing piano since he was five and began jazz in his early teens. Leading a jazz trio he played at Yuk Yuks in Toronto between acts before he moved to New York to study with a jazz master. Now you can hear The Howard Rees Trio performing around the Quinte region. Howard was a 2022 Art’s Recognition Award winner.
