Lewis Achenbach interprets the music and atmosphere of an event in his artwork in the moment.

It now feels like a translation or an amalgam of two languages. To hear this painting is a meeting place of the sonic and visual arts.
We have a dialogue about our future by using the tools of our past. This is an artistic movement. The artists from opposite banks are meeting in the rush of mid-river."

International Jazz Day is an International Day declared by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization in 2011 "to highlight jazz and its diplomatic role of uniting people in all corners of the globe." It is celebrated annually on April 30.
