The Roaring Twenties was a time of excitement. Think bootleg liquor, F. Scott Fitzgerald, the Great Gatsby and Jazz! Young people were finding new freedom to express themselves and the freewheeling nature of the new jazz music was the perfect accompaniment. The jazz was hot, wild and unpredictable just like the young people who were dancing and partying to it! Jazz legends such as Louis Armstrong, Bix Beiderbecke, Sidney Bechet and Duke Ellington were creating wonderful, everlasting music! The Roaring Twenties Jazz Orchestra is a group of outstanding young musicians, mainly current WAAPA students, who have come together to capture the spirit of this music, under the guidance of experienced hand, Phil Hatton. The concert will be a celebration of the first flowering of jazz. Come and enjoy the spirit of the 1920s music expressed in the 2020s by some of Perthβs finest young musicians. Ethan Lamb trumpet, Gianni Petta tenor sax, Aaron Canny trombone, Vincent Choy guitar and vocals, Jack Harrison bass, Ben Cromie drums. Phil Hatton will be playing clarinet.
