In collaboration with Elijah Jamal Balbed, The Kreeger Museum is honored and thrilled to present Jazz at The Kreeger, a series that furthers our mission to share music across the city. Now in its sixth year, this series supports and spotlights the wealth of musical talent in our metropolitan area.Alfred Yun is a Korean-American jazz pianist and composer. His music is influenced by his upbringing in both Korea and the United States. You can hear influences ranging from jazz, hip hop, and K-Pop to traditional Korean music in Alfred Yun’s compositions
His latest album, Voice and Phenomenon, explores the relationship between love and violence. It uses the medium of the voice — gibberish, games, poems, singing, spoken word, rap, laughter, and more — to explore different forms of love and violence. The album invites the listener into an intimate account of these disparate voices, sounds, and experiences. It is the most personal and revealing work of his career. New Music USA awarded the album the New Music Creator Fund; Capital Bop listed it as one of the top DC Jazz Albums of 2025.
