About this Event
Internationally renowned award winning drummer and original member of the cult band Cymande Sam Kelly has been receiving universal plaudits for more than forty years with his Station House Band during which time they featured prominently on the UK and Worldwide music scene.
The band has seen a wealth of top quality musicians come and go over the years, but all with one constant goal – that of mixing instinctive funk and soul rhythms with the diversity that is the blues!
Today’s line-up is a result of Sam re-launching the band as a 4-piece in 2019 featuring himself on drums and backing vocals together with Richard Sadler on bass, Tony Quinta on guitar and Rowena Poole on lead vocals.
The current line-up of Sam Kelly’s Station House gives the blues-based ‘groove’ band a unique sound that is influenced by New Orleans Second Line, jazz soul and British funk.
The current show centres around tracks from their latest album, “No Barricades” plus songs from the likes of Johnny Guitar Watson, Keb Mo, The Average White Band and Labi Siffre to name but a few.
